How to tie a dog bandana without guessing the fit.

A square bandana becomes a triangle, then a narrower neck accessory. Folding and knotting consume fabric, so begin with the actual square measurements rather than the size letter alone.

Five steps

A simple fold-and-tie sequence

Start with the square. Lay it flat with the printed side down and smooth the edges.
Fold corner to corner. Bring opposite corners together to make a triangle.
Adjust the depth. Roll the long folded edge inward once or more. Each fold shortens the visible triangle and uses some of the available length.
Place, then tie. Centre the triangle on the chest or back and use a simple knot that can be undone without pulling fabric through a tight loop.
Recheck the result. The fabric should sit comfortably without replacing or interfering with the dog's normal collar and identification.

Treat it as an accessory, not equipment

Leave comfortable room

Check the fit after tying and again after the dog moves. If the knot, fold, or fabric looks restrictive, remove it and choose a larger square or a different fold.

Keep the collar separate

A tied bandana is not a collar or restraint. Do not attach a leash to it or rely on it for identification or control.

Use supervised wear

Remove the bandana if it shifts, catches on something, becomes wet or damaged, or the dog scratches at it or otherwise appears bothered.
